A jury of 25 people from the fields of design, architecture and media chose the global as well as the national winners. This year, the proverbial silver medal goes to the USA: it is with great enthusiasm that we are able to announce the second place winner today, who was able to convince both the voting and the jury with a kitchen design that spans the entire room and is coordinated with natural materials and colours. A particularly homely example that visualises the countless planning possibilities from and with LEICHT. We congratulate you on this well-deserved award and thank you for an outstanding design example.
With this design, Arete Kitchens – the kitchen planning studio from Austin, USA – shows a successful example of how warm colours and natural materials can team up with graphic lines to create a special kind of furnishing aesthetic. Above all the unit fronts in the LEICHT TOPOS range as well as the geometrically structured tiles on the back kitchen wall define the look. Shimmering metallic elements are an elegant touch and add that certain something to the living space. A long island in a dominant position is the influential element in the architectural spatial concept because it appears to be floating, thus lending a feeling of lightness. Totally in keeping with LEICHT’s cross-spatial planning approach, the walls of the adjoining hallway are also clad in wood in the same way as the kitchen front, creating a sculptural look – Arete Kitchens developed a holistic kitchen plan extending beyond the kitchen space.
