Clean-lined Contrast

Contrasting oak wood veneer on the back wall subtly defines the kitchen, adding warmth and texture. Clean-lined base cabinetry features ergonomic drawers—seamlessly integrated with white strip handles on the island and handleless along the walls—for a sleek, streamlined aesthetic. To further achieve a refined, uncomplicated look, appliances were designed to be flush and, where possible, fully integrated within the cabinetry. Low-profile lighting enhances the ambiance while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic.

Seamless Extensions

Positioned between the kitchen and living space, a thoughtfully designed bar nook offers a stylish, day-to-night transition, enhancing both daily convenience and effortless entertaining. Similarly, a coordinating utility area beyond the kitchen features a stainless-steel sink, concealed trash bin, dishwasher drawers, and a spacious walk-in pantry—functioning as a seamless extension for additional prep and storage.

Designed to embrace its breathtaking surroundings, the open-concept kitchen prioritizes flow, comfort and a harmonious connection to the surrounding Texas Hill Country landscape. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light, blurring the lines between indoors and out while creating an airy, inviting atmosphere.

Client Vision
As part of their new DC+A build in Westlake Hills, the kitchen was meant to integrate effortlessly into the home’s open-concept core, connecting the indoor living areas with the surrounding landscape. The clients envisioned a chic, inviting kitchen with a sophisticated yet warm, design, favoring a minimalist, functional structure with elegant finishes. They sought a layout that would maximize natural light, openness, and ease of movement, ensuring that their kitchen became a welcoming, central gathering space for both daily living and hosting guests. To creatively maximize the efficiency of each zone with specialty cabinets, we added a double bin trash drawer near the main sink and dishwasher. Tall pull-out pantry cabinet for everyday dry goods, oils & spices near the cooking area, up and down lighting in the bar to highlight the entertaining area, and shallow cabinetry near the sliding glass doors to serve as a buffet.
